Q. Where do I register?
A. Either online via SignMeUpSports. See the registration page for complete details.

Q. Is registration limited?
A. Yes, registration is limited to a total of 500 participants. Register early - we will reach capacity early!

Q. Can I register the morning of the race?
A. No. The last day for registration is at packet pick-up the day before, August 7th however we have been full the last two years way in advance of packet pick-up! .

:: Course & Race Details

Q. Is the race all on trails?
A. 98.3% of the race is on dirt. The course is a combination of single-track and cinder trails. Check the course description page for more specifics.


Q. Is there a time limit on the marathon?
A. Yes. The time limit for marathoners to finish is six and a half hours (6.5). However, we do have an early start for slower marathoners (6:30am) to give you an extra 30 minutes - seven hours total. We also have an early start time (7:30am) for half marathon walkers and slower runners.
PLEASE NOTE: ONCE YOU REGISTER, YOU CANNOT CHANCE YOUR START TIME!

Q. How many events are taking place?
A. Two: The marathon and the half-marathon

Q. How is the race timed?
A. The race will be professionally timed and results will be emailed out and posted online by Monday, August 9th. If you stay post-race to enjoy the awards ceremony, food and beer we will have results posted at the race as well.

Q. Is Haulin' Aspen a USATF Sanctioned Event?
A. Yes, we will sanction this event with USA Track & Field.

Q. How many aid stations are on the course?
A. For the marathon, there are nine aid stations available. For the half-marathon there are five.. Some aid stations will serve both out-and-back traffic.See the aid station page for a breakdown of the location of each aid station location and what will be served at each aid station.

Q. What will be available at the aid stations?
A. Every aid station will have water, Gatorade, energy chews and/or gels. Again, visit the aid station page for more specifics.

Q. Will there be food at the finish line?
A. Absolutely! We will have a main course provided to all athletes and beer provided by Cascade Lakes Brewing Company as well as other, non alcoholic beverages. You may also purchase an extra meal for $12 for friends or family.

Q. Is there a place nearby to stay?
A. We recommend Seventh Mountain Resort. Seventh Mountain is located approximately 15 minutes from the start of the race. They are the official host hotel of FreshAirSports.

:: Parking and Shuttle Service

Q. How much parking is available at Shevlin Park?
A. NONE pre-race. Parking is very limited inside Shevlin Park. Parking is NOT allowed in the Aspen Hall parking area, across the street from Shevlin Park. Shuttles are provided free of charge to all athletes and spectators. If you have small children that cannot be on the shuttle due to seat belt restrictions, please contact the race director to arrange for parking. NOTE: arrangements MUST be made in advance!

Q. How do I get to Shevlin Park?
A.As a reminder, parking is not allowed on race morning. To check out the beautiful park and area prior to the race, the address of Shevlin Park is 18920 Shevlin Park Road. To get there from downtown Bend (from the junction at Wall Street and Greenwood Ave./Newport Ave.):

  • Travel WEST on Greenwood Ave (becomes Newport Avenue)
  • Pass through two traffic circles. At the second traffic circle, Newport Avenue becomes Shevlin Park Road
  • Continue on Shevlin Park Road for 2.7 miles. The entrance to Shevlin Park is on your left, immediately after crossing Tumalo Creek

Q. Sounds complicated, can I take a shuttle?
A. Yes! We will have shuttle service available for both you and your specator guests. We'll have a detailed shuttle schedule with pick-up and drop-off locations soon. Athletes ride the shuttles for free, spectators will pay a minimum fee. NOTE: infants and dogs are not allowed on shuttles.

:: Spectators

Q. Will I be able to see people on the run?
A. The start and finish area are the best places to watch racers. At about mile 1.5, the runners will come through the start/finish area again.

:: Awards

Q. What kind of awards will be presented?
A. Overall male and female, masters (40+) male and female. Awards for both the marathon and half-marathon. We will also have ribbons three-deep in every age group (increments of 5 years: 20-24, 25-29....70+).

Q. Are there finisher's medals?
A. Each marathon and half-marathon finisher will receive a unique medal commemorating the race.
