In eight years, Jeff went from 205 pound gym rat to a four-time ironman finisher and ultra-marathoner. Jeff completed his first marathon in 2000 after losing a bet to his wife, Gina. Jeff began to join her on her runs, the same ploy she later used to hook him into running the 2000 Portland Marathon with her. Jeff managed to study for (and pass) the Oregon State Bar exam while training for his first ironman-distance triathlon. Most recently, Jeff won the Open Division at the True Texan Triathlon, an iron-distance race in the Texas Hill Country near San Antonio. While he has also raced Ironman Canada and Ironman Coeur d'Alene, Jeff frequently places in the top of his age group in Olympic distance triathlons and he won the 2003 Christmas Half-Marathon in Olympia, Washington.
While Jeff's primary emphasis is on coaching age-group triathletes and runners of all levels, his coaching philosophy also includes combining traditional personal training services with an emphasis on long-term health and wellness. He enjoys working with athletes to develop a strategy for improving overall health using a combination of aerobic exercise, strength training and nutrition. His central goal in coaching all of his athletes is helping their sports and hobbies enhance other aspects of their lives.
Jeff is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and a USAT Level 1 Triathlon Coach.
Jeff is currently coached by former Ironman World Champion and elite triathlon coach Scott Molina.
